HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Lion struck first in the top of the first inning with the lead off hitter getting on and then the next batter driving him in with an RBI single. Albright added on another run after an RBI double to deep center field. The Pride took little time to answer, tying the game after Kevin Bukowski smashed a two-run home run to left center. Myles Calderbank followed that up with an infield single to drive in the third run of the inning. The Pride weren't done, completing a double steal to take a 4-2 lead. The Lions kept their bats rolling in the top of the second, scoring two runs to tie the game at four. The Pride regained the lead in the bottom of the third inning, as Jon Aman drew a walk with the bases loaded to drive in a run.
  • Albright took the lead in the top of the fourth scoring two runs, one on a passed ball and one from a sacrifice fly. Brendan Raven tied the game back up in the bottom of the fourth, putting the ball in play to bring home Balcer. Myles Calderbank then gave Widener the lead, driving in a run with an RBI single to left field. After Albright tied game at seven in the top of the fifth, they capitalized on Widener mistakes in the top of the sixth to take an 8-7 lead. The Pride got the offense going again in the bottom of the seventh inning as Ryan Bauerle was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to drive in the tying run. Jack Balcer drove in the go ahead run with a sacrifice fly to deep right center field. Kevin Bukowski followed that up by scorching a ball up the middle to drive in two more runs. Brend Raven came through again hitting a single through the left side to score Bukowski and give Widener a 12-8 lead. Albright was able to add on one in the top of the eighth but that would be it as Ethan Lytle came in and shut it down to give the Pride a sweep over the Albright College Lions.
