LAKE MYRTLE, Fla. – Widener Baseball Stays hot, grabbing an impressive win against the Minnesota-Morris Cougars.
The Pride improve to 5-5 on the season.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Sean Curran dominated on the mound, throwing a complete-game shutout, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 9
- Jack Balcer is heating up, going 2-for-3 with a double and scoring three runs.
- Jon Aman was did it all at the plate today, going 2-for-2 with two RBIs, a walk, and a sacrifice bunt.
- Kevin Bukowski delivered in key moments, driving in three runs while collecting a hit and a stolen base.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Through the first two innings, Widener was able to get runners on base but were unable to drive them in. The Pride finally broke through in the bottom of the third inning. Braedyn Clinton started off the inning by laying down a beautiful bunt down the third base line for a single. Jack Balcer followed up with a hit of his own, hitting a single into the right center field. Jon Aman moved them both over with a sacrifice bunt before Kevin Bukowski made hard contact, forcing a Minnesota Morris mistake and bringing in two runs. Ryan Bauerle drove in the third and final run of the inning with a single through the left side. Sean Curran was locked in, not allowing a hit through four innings.
- The Pride added on in the top of the 5th with an RBI single from Jon Aman. Widener would add on even more in the bottom of the 6th with a mixture of walks and timely hitting. Kevin Bukowski came up big, driving a single into the right center gap to bring in two runs. Sean Curran continued his dominance, finishing the game allowing zero runs and only one hit. The Pride left the ballpark with an impressive 10-0 win.
