Baseball Mounts Crazy Comeback Against Haverford College

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Widener Baseball comes back from a 12-3 deficit to defeat the Haverford College Fords.

The Pride improve to 13-8 and remain 5-1 in the MAC Commonwealth.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • Kevin Bukowski had the game of his life, going 3-5 with three home runs, driving in five runs
  • Jack Balcer had another solid day, going 2-5 with a double and an RBI.
  • Jon Aman was clutch at the plate, going 1-3 with a single and two RBI's.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Kevin Bukowski started things off with a bang, blasting a two-run home run in the top of the first to give Widener an early lead. The Fords responded in the bottom half of the inning, scoring two runs of their own to tie the game up. After a quiet few innings, The Haverford bats came alive, scoring six runs in the bottom of the third to give them an 8-2 lead. Widener added a run in the top of the fourth on a Myles Calderbank RBI ground out. The bottom of the fourth was another challenging inning for the Pride as Haverford added four more runs, bringing the score to 12-3.
  • Widener began to chip away in the sixth inning. Kevin Bukowski began the scoring with his second home run of the day. Myles Calderbank followed that up with ab RBI single through the right side. Braedyn Clinton would then single to bring in another run, followed up by a Haverford throwing error to bring in the fourth run of the inning. The Widener offense added on two more in the top of the seventh after Kevin Bukowski hit his third home run of the game to bring the score within three. Widener continued to hit in the top of the eight, started off by a Nick Nigro RBI single followed up by a Jack Balcer RBI double. Jon Aman would then come up clutch and hit a single to drive in two runs and take the lead 13-12. Dylan Neves and Caleb Horner would close out the game and give the Pride a 13-12 win.
UP NEXT
The Pride will return home on Wednesday, March 26th to take on TCNJ. First pitch is set for 3:30pm.
