CHESTER, Pa. – After falling behind 5-0 early, Widener Baseball was unable to mount a comeback against the TCNJ Lions.
The Pride fall to 13-9 and remain 5-1 in the MAC Commonwealth.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Kevin Bukowski continued his hot streak, going 2-5 with two singles
- Sean Burke had a solid day at the plate, going 2-4 with a walk, and RBI, and two singles.
- Chris McKenna went 1-5 with a big lead off double in the sixth.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lions gained an early lead, scoring two runs in the top of the first after stringing together a couple hits. TCNJ added on to their lead in the top of the third after and RBI single and a two-run home run. After a slow start, the Pride got on the board in the bottom of third on an RBI single from Sean Burke. After a quiet fourth inning TCNJ struck once again in the top of the fifth with a solo home run to make to score 6-1. Widner gained back some momentum in the bottom of the fifth as Brendan raven drove in Widener's second run of the day on an RBI single to left field.
- TCNJ took the momentum right back in the top of the sixth, driving in two more runs on a single down the right field line. Chris McKenna got Widener started in the bottom half of, scorching a double off the left field wall followed up by a Kevin Bukowski single. Ryan Bauerle drove one in with a sacrifice fly to make the score 8-3 TCNJ. The Lions added two more in the top of the ninth before the Pride had their last at bats of the game. Widener was unable to scratch any across and would lose by a final score of 10-3.
