GLENSIDE, Pa. – Widener Baseball was unable to overcome a large early deficit in a loss to the Arcadia University Knights.
The Pride fall to 9-7 and remain 3-0 in the MAC Commonwealth.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Tyler Harper went 1-for-2 with a walk, collecting one of Widener's two hits in the game.
- Jack Balcer also added a hit for the Pride, finishing 1-for-2 on the day.
- Brendan Raven drove in Widener's lone run with a sacrifice fly.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Arcadia came out hot against Widener, putting up 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning, putting the Pride in a deep hole early. After the first inning struggles, Dylan Neves was able to settle things down, limiting the Knights to one run in the bottom of the second before tossing a scoreless third and fourth inning. The Pride bats struggled to get anything going early until the top of the fourth inning where they were able to scratch across their first run of the day on a Brendan Raven sacrifice fly. Arcadia put together another big inning in the bottom of the fifth, putting up three more runs. Tyler Conlan came in and stopped the bleeding, but Widener was unable to get the bats going and would lose by a final score of 15-1.
