BY THE NUMBERS: GAME TWOÂ
HOW IT HAPPENED IN GAME ONEÂ
-
Widener and Eastern opened the first game with a scoreless first two innings, as Caitlyn Katchur held Eastern's offense in check early. However, Eastern broke through in the bottom of the third with a leadoff double, followed by a two-run home run that gave them the lead. Widener responded in the top of the third with Katchur's double, setting up Sam McCarthy, who delivered an RBI single to bring home the Pride's only run. Despite strong defensive plays from Taylor Bell at shortstop, Eastern capitalized on a pair of hits in the bottom of the inning to extend their lead. By the end of the third, Eastern led 4-1.Â
-
In the fourth, Eastern's offense erupted, stringing together a series of doubles and capitalizing on two hit batters to put up a nine-run inning. Widener made a pitching change, bringing in Amanda Danz, who managed to stop the bleeding with a clean inning, allowing just one hit. Unfortunately, the Pride's offense couldn't regain momentum, recording just one baserunner in the final two innings. With Eastern shutting down Widener's bats, the game ended in a 13-1 loss.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED IN GAME TWOÂ
-
The second game started similarly, with Eastern jumping ahead early. A leadoff single and a defensive miscue put runners in scoring position before a three-run homer in the bottom of the first gave Eastern an early cushion. Widener struggled to generate offense through the first three innings, with McCarthy picking up a hit and Katchur reaching base, but Eastern's pitching held strong. In the bottom of the third, Eastern struck again, using a pair of doubles to push across three more runs, increasing their lead to 6-0.Â

Widener showed some fight in the top of the fourth, as Katchur doubled and later came around to score on an RBI single from Bella Smith, cutting into Eastern's lead. However, Eastern answered right back with a six-run fourth inning, capitalizing on defensive miscues and timely hitting to put the game out of reach. Alyssa Gomez and Leah Digandomenico provided some late offensive sparks, with Digandomenico delivering a pinch-hit double, but Widener couldn't sustain a rally. Eastern closed things out with a dominant final frame, handing Widener a 13-1 loss in the second game of the doubleheader.Â
