HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pride's first conference game of the season started as a pitchers' duel, with both sides not getting much going early. Eastern was able to deliver the first blow with a solo shot in the bottom of the fourth inning. Eastern would extend their lead in the bottom of the fifth with two more runs and then add one more run in the bottom of the sixth to bring the score to 4-0. Widener struggled to get anything going through the first six innings, but they finally broke through in the seventh. A Braedyn Clinton double gave the Pride its first two runs of the game followed by a Jack Balcer triple to bring the score within one. Kevin Bukowski would the single to bring in the tying run before Ryan Bauerle stepped up to the plate and demolished a three-run home run to give the Pride a 7-4 lead.
- Eastern answered back in the bottom of the inning, hitting a solo home run to cut into the Widener lead. Braedyn Clinton would come in clutch in the top of the eighth scorching an RBI double to center field and then eventually scoring on a passed ball. Widener would then load up the bases before Sean Burke was hit by a pitch to bring in the tenth run of the game for Widener. Although the pride had built a sizable lead, the Eagles would not go away, scoring two more in the bottom of the eight to bring the score to 10-7. Widener added on an insurance run in the top of the ninth thanks to a Kevin Bukowski double and then Ethan Lytle shut the doors in the bottom of the ninth giving Widener an 11-7 win over Eastern.
