Overtime Thriller Bows to Salisbury

CHESTER, Pa. – Widener Men's Basketball force overtime after battling back in the second half against Salisbury.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
  • Myles Bright led with 23 points and four rebounds.
  • Kori Segich showed 21 points and a team high six rebounds.
  • The Pride would shoot 41.5% from the floor, 78.3% from the stripe, and see 46 points in the paint.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Two steals would open the game for the Pride as TJ Bryson and Emmett Kane. Segich put the Pride on the board at 16:25 with a good jumper with Bright putting in a layup the next drive. Bryson poked another all lose to give Namisse Musonge a fastbreak triple. Segich drained another at 12:09 while the Pride went on a quick 6-0 run. Ethan Dodson would give the Pride an edge with a layup at 3:05 as the Pride and Seagulls battled back and forth. Segich found a layup while Dodson created a steal and a layup with just under two left. The Pride headed into the locker room up six after a Matt Johnson charity stripe shot. 
     
  • Bright opened the second half scoring with a layup. The Seagulls would bright the score back to their favor but a Kane steal and Bryson fastbreak layup kept the up. The Seagulls went on another run before Bryson put in a layup with 5:15 left. Dodson made the score 58-62 with a layup as the Pride mounted a comeback. With under two left, Bright started the scoring run with a layup that led to Segich earning a trip to the stripe to bring the game within two. A quiet Seagulls end allowed Bright to tie the game at 66 to force overtime.
     
  • Bright would lead the Pride in overtime with the first four points to keep the game tied at 70. The Seagulls would hit a triple to start a short run that would give them an edge. Segich hit a jumper in the paint and Bright ended scoring with a layup. The final showed an 80-75 loss after the final whistle.
UP NEXT
Widener heads to nearby Swarthmore, Pa. for a trip against the 5-4 (0-0 Centennial) Swarthmore Garnet. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
