CHESTER, Pa. - Widener Women's Volleyball return home and show out with a 3-1 win over Rutgers-Camden.Â
The Pride improve to 2-2 on the season and remain 0-0 in conference.Â

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ

The Pride erupted out the gates, scoring seven of the first nine points and going up 7-2. The teams would trade two-point runs until Widener's three straight would put them up 17-10. Later in the set, with the score being 19-13, the Pride would go off for six straight points and take the set 25-13.Â

The second set started much closer, with both teams trading scores early. The Pride would go on a six-point run, but the Scarlet Raptors would respond with a 6-1 run. The teams would continue to battle until Rutgers-Camden would score two straight and tie the game at 24. A kill by Martucci would give the Pride the lead, but they would give up three points and fall 25-27.Â

The beginning of the third set went like the second, as both sides traded points, and the score was tied at 5-5. An 8-1 Rutgers=Camden run would see them up 13-6, but a late Pride 5-1 run would see them claw their way to a 23-23 tie. Toomey's two kills would help Widener get to a 25-25 tie, and a Martucci kill would seal the set 27-25 for the Pride.Â

The Pride were invigorated from their last set, jumping out 7-0. Widener blocking forced four attacking errors from Rutgers-Camden as they commanded a 14-4 lead. Up 24-12, it seemed that the Pride had the set wrapped up. The Scarlet Raptors would go on an impressive comeback run, scoring eight straight and tightening the lead; but a Meghan Prior kill would extinguish the fire and win the Pride the set 25-20.Â
