Widener Track and Field to Send Four Student-Athletes to 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships

CHESTER, Pa. – Widener track and field is sending four student-athletes to the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The event will be from Thursday, May 23 to Saturday, May 25 at Coastal Carolina University in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The four Widener representatives will be Kayla Robinson, Isabel Rodriguez, Samuel Knowles, and Matayo McGraw.

Robinson is tied for 16th in the nation in women's triple jump with 12.05 meters. She set that personal-best mark, which was good for third place in that event, at the Widener Final Qualifier on May 13. At the MAC Outdoor Championships from May 2-4, held at Widener, she came in second by clocking in at 11.71 meters.

Rodriguez ranks 12th in the nation in women's hammer throw with 53.83 meters. She took first place in that event at the Widener Final Qualifier and set a new career-high. She threw for 53.08 meters and came in first at the Paul Donahue Invitational at Widener University on April 19-20.

Knowles is currently ranked eighth in the nation in men's 400 meters with a time of 47.06 seconds. He set that time at the MAC Championships. He came in first in that race and set a personal-best. Knowles came in third in 400 meters at the Paul Donahue Invitational. His time was 47.88 seconds.

Finally, McGraw is ranked sixth in the nation in men's triple jump. He set his personal-best of 15.01 meters, and came in first for the event, at the Widener Final Qualifier. At the MAC Championships, he came in first with 14.95 meters. In the latter, it was a .52 meter difference from second place.

For each individual event, including decathlon and heptathlon, the top 22 declared student-athletes were accepted for the competition. The top 16 teams for relays, one per institution, were accepted as well.
