BY THE NUMBERS HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST YORK
  • After a quick first inning for the visitors' offense, the Pride pounced on a 2-0 lead. Balcer and Hayden O'Neill had RBIs. Through the second and third innings, both sides would have runners in scoring position. Widener doubled their advantage in the bottom of the third, as Balcer and O'Neill once again brought in runners to score. The Spartans scored their first run in the top of the fourth on an RBI double. After four, Widener led 4-1.
  • Sanders continued to give York's offense trouble in the top of the fifth. The Pride answered in the bottom of the inning with two more scores. An error by the catcher and a wild pitch brought Savkov and Barenz home. The Spartans scored two runs in the sixth off walks with bases loaded. But, the Pride's defense retired the half-inning with a double play. Widener's bats were still hot in the sixth inning. A Barenz RBI single scored Christian Reed. To end the inning, Balcer earned a walk with two men on base. Jon Aman stole home on the play, but Barenz was out at home after trying the same thing. With a five-run lead, York began a comeback attempt. They would score two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth to cut the deficit to two. However, Lytle came in relief of Aidan O'Brien in the ninth. The Pride ended the game on another double play. Widener won 8-6.
