BY THE NUMBERS
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MESSIAH
- In the first minute of play, Messiah had their first goal of the evening. Despite the visitors following that up with another goal, the Pride made good plays on defense. Rosini made multiple saves, and Trowbridge and Kasey Thornton caused Falcons' turnovers. Scott put Widener's first goal in the net on a Krohn dime. Both sides saw shot attempts before the Falcons answered with a goal. After one, Messiah led 3-1.
- Another Trowbridge caused turnover led to the Pride cashing in on a Jamie DeHaven score. However, Messiah's aggressive offense would rip off the next three goals. With 1:46 left in the first half, Jessica Mantz cut Widener's deficit in half on a Lucy Breithaupt assist. DeHaven got one last shot up, but it was saved. The Falcons had a 6-3 advantage at the break.
- The Pride won the opening draw control of the third quarter, which Trowbridge immediately used to score the team's fourth goal. For the next two Messiah scores, Widener answered with their own not too long after. Mantz would cash in on a free position, and Scott hit her second goal from Krohn. Although Rosini made a few saves throughout the third, Messiah added a goal in the final two-and-a-half minutes of the quarter. The visitors led 9-6 through three.
- The Pride's chances of a comeback were diminished in the fourth quarter. The Falcons scored five straight goals before Scott put Widener's last goal on the board. All three Scott goals for the game were assisted by Krohn. Rachel Rothstein caused a turnover in the final two minutes, but Messiah won 15-7.
