BY THE NUMBERS
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST HOOD
- Despite an early caused turnover by Kasey Thornton, the Blazers struck first with a free-position goal. Both goalies made saves before DeHaven cashed in to tie the game. Hood turned the ball over after winning the next draw control, which led to a good clear from Widener. Catherine Scott gave the Pride the lead when she got past the goalie on a free position. Rosini made two saves in the final 25 seconds of the quarter. Widener led 2-1 after one.
- Mingioni won the opening draw control of the second quarter. Not even a minute in, Scott scored again, this time on an assist by Alex Krohn. The Pride made good defensive plays before scoring two of the next three goals. In a 1:47 stretch, Mantz and DeHaven scored, the second of which came from Clark Trowbridge. Hood scored in between the Widener goals. As the Pride saw multiple caused turnovers and Rosini saves, Mantz cashed in on a free-position shot with seven seconds left in the half. The score was 6-2 at the break.
- The home team heated up as the third quarter was underway. Although the Blazers scored 1:10 into the half, Trowbridge answered about two-and-a-half minutes later. Hood won the next two draw controls and cut the deficit to two with back-to-back goals. Widener blitzed Hood's goalie with three straight shots in a 24-second stretch in the middle of the quarter. A Hood turnover turned into a DeHaven free-position goal at 3:01. The Pride forced a Blazers' yellow card at the end of the quarter, and Widener led 8-5.
- Widener's offense was hot to start the fourth quarter. They put up three straight shots, but all were saved. Mingioni assisted on the Mantz goal that gave the latter a hat-trick. Although the Blazers scored two goals in a row to once again cut the Pride advantage to two, Krohn scored on a man-up goal with four seconds left to wrap up the game. Widener won 10-7.
