Widener Baseball Comes up Empty-Handed Against Ursinus Bears

Ryan Weaver Hit a Three-Run Home Run in the Third Inning

CHESTER, Pa. – Despite Widener baseball having a lead through four innings, they could not overcome the strong hitting from the Ursinus College Bears on Tuesday. Ursinus won 12-5.

The Pride are 5-8 in the regular season. They are 1-2 in conference play.

  • The Bears jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning with RBIs on a groundout and single. The Pride got on the board in the second with a JP DiGuiseppe RBI single. They would hold Ursinus to four batters in the third before Weaver sent a three-run missile to left field to take the lead. Widener's defense in the fourth inning came up big. Both teams played good defense through the middle innings, but Ursinus added to their lead in the eighth and ninth innings.
