ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – Widener baseball won one of two games against the Eastern University Eagles on Saturday. They lost game one 4-1, but they won game two 8-6.
The Pride are 5-7 in the regular season. They are 1-2 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST EASTERN
Game 1
- Despite no Widener runs in the first inning, Bukowski immediately got on base after a hit-by-pitch. The Pride's defense caught a runner stealing to end a quick offensive Eastern half-inning. Neither side could break through the other's defense until the Eagles scored a run in the bottom of the third. An RBI double put the first run on the board, and the score was 1-0 after three.
- The home team added to their lead with an RBI single in the fourth inning. The Pride would respond in the top of the fifth with an Alex Savkov RBI groundout. DiGuiseppe scored. Widener defensive errors in the bottom of the fifth and sixth put Eastern up by three. The Pride got a runner on base in the top of the seventh, but a pop-out retired the final batter. Eastern won 4-1.
Game 2
- With Koblos in scoring position in the first inning, Bukowski knocked in an RBI single. Ryan Bauerle added an RBI single as Bukowski scored and Reed advanced to third base. The Pride's defense was solid for the opening three innings. They went through the entire Eastern batting order once and allowed no hits and struck out four batters. The fourth inning saw scoring for both teams. Bauerle, in scoring position after a Brendan Raven sac-bunt, would score on a Wojciechowski RBI single. The Eagles answered with a two-RBI double and a three-run home run. Eastern led 5-3 after four.
- The Pride got two men on base in the fifth inning before a fielder's choice retired the half-inning. Widener took the lead in the sixth on two Eastern throwing errors and an RBI single. Koblos had the RBI single and one of the throwing error scores. The Eagles tied the score at 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh. They would score on a walk with bases loaded. Sean Curran struck out the final batter to retire the inning. Jack Balcer was the hero in the ninth inning, smacking a two-RBI single to bring in Bukowski and Koblos. The Eagles loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth with a chance to win the game, but Lytle struck out the last two batters. Widener won 8-6.
