HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST WASHINGTON COLLEGE
- The Shoremen struck first with getting a man on base. A Pride error turned into Washington College putting a man on second, but three straight outs avoided a run. The second inning ended after the Shoremen received their third out on a batter's interference call. Widener made progress in the third inning, as Xavier Ruley and Bukowski advanced to third and second base, respectively, on a passed ball. However, they could not capitalize on the advantage. Despite a solo home run from the Shoremen in the fourth, the inning ended when the Pride caught a runner stealing. Through four, Washington College led 1-0.
- The middle innings saw both sides find some success getting men on base, but it did not turn into runs scored. Nick Barenz got as far as third base in the top of the sixth, thanks to multiple Washington College errors. It wasn't until the eighth inning that the Pride got on the board. A Barenz sac-bunt sent Bukowski to third, and a wild pitch led to him scoring. Widener defended their run in the bottom of the inning with three strikeouts in four batters. But, in the top of the ninth, the Pride broke the game open with three consecutive scoring plays. Another score on a wild pitch was followed by a Brendan Raven two-RBI double, and Balcer cleaned everything up with a two-run home run. The Shoremen loaded the bases in bottom of the ninth and were able to get an RBI single. However, a fly-out ended the comeback attempt. Widener won 6-2.
