UNION, N.J. – Widener baseball came up empty-handed on Thursday against the Kean University Cougars, as they lost 12-0.
The Pride are 0-3 on the season. Their first MAC game is on Friday, March 15 vs. Eastern.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST KEAN
- In the first four innings, the Pride struggled to get batters on base. The Cougars struck first in the first inning with two runs. A Pride throwing error and a sac-fly RBI brought runners home. Widener would play good defense in the second, as Curran struck out two batters with bases loaded to end the inning. However, the Cougars would score again in the fourth on another sac-fly RBI and a wild pitch. After four, Kean led 4-0.
- A scoreless fifth inning by both sides led to the sixth. However, the game got out of hand when Kean scored seven runs with two outs. Two two-RBI singles were some of the scoring plays. The Cougars added one more run in the bottom of the seventh on a double play. With Trae Sanders on the mound in the bottom of the eighth, the Pride got three outs in four batters. But, the final score was 12-0.
UP NEXT
The Pride travels to Chestertown, Md. next Thursday, Feb. 29 at 3 p.m. They will take on the Washington College Shoremen.
