Women’s Basketball Heads to MAC Postseason to Face York Spartans

This Game is a #2 vs. #3 Seed Battle

CHESTER, Pa. – After a strong regular season from Widener women's basketball, they now head to the MAC postseason. They will host the York College Spartans in the MAC Commonwealth Semifinals. Game time is Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m.

The Pride went 21-4 (11-3 MAC) this season. Their 21 wins tied the all-time season record in Widener women's basketball history. They opened up the season 7-0 before taking their first loss in December. The Pride swept four of their seven MAC rivals. Widener ended the regular season on an eight-game winning streak, including a 68-62 win at Albright in the finale.

The Spartans, meanwhile, ended the season 15-10 (8-6 MAC). Although they went .500 in home games, they excelled with a 9-5 road record. York finished the regular season with a dominating 74-47 win at Hood.

The Pride and Spartans met twice this season, with Widener sweeping both games. They won 71-61 at home on Jan. 24 and 72-65 at York on Feb. 13.

Jordan D'Ambrosio led the Pride once again this season with 17.4 points per game, as well as 2.9 assists and 1.7 steals. The points and steals were career-highs. In a two-game stretch against Stevenson and Eastern, she had a career-high 27 points and 24 points. In both games, she recorded six steals each.

Mia Robbins improved from her first season last year. She averaged 14.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per night. She also had a team-best 48.6% field-goal percentage. Robbins saw career-highs in points and rebounds this season too. She had 24 points against Neumann and 15 rebounds against Swarthmore.

Finally, Mary McFillin had career-highs across the stat sheet. She averaged 7.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. She averaged over one steal and one block per game. McFillin's 35.2% from three-point range led the Pride.

The winner of this game will take on the winner of Messiah vs. Alvernia. The MAC Championships will be on Saturday, Feb. 24. Location will be at the higher seed.

Ticket prices are as follows: $8 (adults) and $6 (senior citizens 65+). MAC students with ID and children six and under with an adult get in for free. Cash or credit card will be accepted at the door.
