DALLAS, Pa. - Widener Cheerleading acquires some hardware at the 2024 MAC Championships hosted by Misericordia on Sunday afternoon.
The Pride competed in three categories at the 2024 MAC Championships.
In the Partner Stunt category,
Anika Knight,
Erin McCrane,
Skyla Lombo, and
Katelyn Bendig took first after a gold worthy performance. Partner Stunt is judged on execution, difficulty, variety, transitions, the overall effect, and showmanship.
The Pride took home a second place finish in the Traditional category. In the Traditional, teams are asked to perform a two to two-and-a-half-minute routine that was judged in two sections. In the cheer section, teams were awarded points based on crowd leading, skills, and the overall impression. In the music section, teams were awarded points based on partner stunts, pyramids, tumbling, basket tosses, and overall impression of the sounds.
Widener grabbed another silver in the Gameday category. This category teams are asked to perform a situational game day routine such as a timeout or the fight song. Gameday is scored out of 100 points and broken down into four scoring sections. Within timeout, teams were scored based on the material, execution, crowd leading tools, and the visual appeal. Crowd leading sideline looked at the material, execution, effectiveness and technique, and crowd leading tools. The third was the fight song, scored based on material, execution, motion technique, and visual appeal with the last being the overall impression of the routine.
