Back on Top: Traditional Title Returns to Widener Cheerleading

2/16/2026 10:56:00 AM

DALLAS, Pa. - Widener Cheer captured the Traditional title at the MAC Championships, marking their first championship win in the category since 2020.

At the 2026 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships, the Pride competed in three categories: Traditional, Game Day, and Partner Stunt.

In the Traditional division, Widener claimed first place, topping Misericordia for the first time since 2020. The division emphasizes a blend of technical cheer skills, including tumbling, stunts, and pyramids, while also showcasing performance elements such as music, dance, and engaging sideline interaction.

The Pride earned a silver finish in the Game Day division. Designed to mirror the energy and atmosphere of a live home contest, the Game Day category features a band chant, crowd-leading segments, situational sideline cheers, and a fight song, all packed into a three-minute routine. Widener's timeout performance was set to the song "Walk It Out."

In the Partner Stunt division, Widener secured second and third place finishes, with stunt groups featuring Katelyn Bendig and Avery Thompson as the flyers. The division highlights a single stunt group, consisting of a back spot, side base, main base, and flyer, performing a one-minute routine filled with transitions and advanced skills. Performances are evaluated on execution, difficulty, creativity, variety, and overall showmanship.

This marks the end of a historic 2025-2026 Cheerleading season.
