ASTON, Pa. – A two-point battle at The Mirenda Center favors Widener Women's Basketball in win over Neumann.
The 78-76 win moves the Pride to 3-3 in the regular season.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Riley Stackhouse led the Pride with 24 points and five rebounds.
- 17 points and 10 rebounds would show a double-double for Mia Robbins in 23 minutes of play.
- Defensively, Mary McFillin and Stackhouse each had a pair of steals.
- The Pride shot 47.4% from the floor, 50% from three (season high), and saw 36 points in the paint.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A triple to open the game for the Pride was drained by Stackhouse shortly after tip. Stackhouse would then go on to earn the first seven Blue and Gold points until McFillin's steal gave Lindsay Kutz her first points of the game off a fast-break turnover. Kaitlyn Kearney and Kutz would drain triples midway through the quarter to take an eight-point lead. Ava Baer wrapped up the 27-point first quarter with a good jumper. The Pride led 27-21.
- Stackhouse again opened scoring in the second with a good layup. McFillin found a groove with five quick points to take an 11-point lead. Kearney followed suit with four of her own while Stackhouse's steal and fast-break bucket gave the Pride a 12-point lead. Mia Elisano took a trip to the charity stripe to add a point while Kutz sent the Pride into half with a jumper to go up 11. The Pride would hold a 46-35 lead.
- Robbins took over the point scoring in the third with 10 Pride points in the first half of the quarter. The Knights would answer, keeping the game under double digits. With 4:49 left, Robbins would push the lead to 10 and then tack on two from the stripe after a rebound to make the lead 12. Elisano extended it to 14 after a good jumper at 3:27. Kearny's last second free throws would give the Pride a 63-51 lead heading into the final 10 minutes.
- A slow start for the Pride would bow the defense. Robbins would put the Blue and Gold on the board at the 7:26 minute mark with a good layup from McFillin. Kearney's layup off a Kimberly Casiello assist would put the lead back to five. Stackhouse added six points to the Pride total with free throws. McFillin helped secure the Pride win with two free throws with under 30 seconds to play. The Pride would seal the win with a Baer block as time expired.

Widener returns to the court after Thanksgiving on Wednesday, Dec. 4 in a MAC crossover game against the 4-2 (0-0 MAC Freedom) Arcadia Knights. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
