CHESTER, Pa. – Widener Men's Swimming sees best season start after a commanding meet against FDU-Florham.
The 153-33 win moves the Pride to 6-0 in the regular season with a 4-0 MAC record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
An opening 1-2 in the 200-yard medley relay would get things started for the Pride. The quad of
Seth Phillips,
Adam Bailey,
Patrick Rankin, and
Alex Chan took first in a 1:45.91. Following up the first was
Bryce Garber,
Shane Hubbard,
Sean Lehan, and
Zach Delgado who took second in a 1:46.97.
Michael Machristie would duel it out in the 1000-yard freestyle where he took first in an 11:03.28.
Dan Jackson led a sweep in the 200-yard freestyle, taking first in a 1:42.63. Jackson's time marks him 33
rd in the nation. Lehan took second with a 1:51.81 while
Shane Douthit took third with a 1:55.71.
Another sweep in the 50-yard freestyle would be led by
Joshua Cunningham with a 22.90. Garber (23.98) and
Noah Fedo (25.19) followed.
For the third event in a row, the Pride would sweep again in the 200-yard individual medley. This time
Jason Mongiovi led the charge with a 2:10.82. Delgado (2:13.37) and Matt Niro (2:16.22) followed.
Trends continued in the 200-yard butterfly with Jackson taking the lead now. Jackson clocked in a 2:03.55 to lead Phillips (2:11.90) and Douthit (2:13.89).
Patrick Rauch took first in the 200-yard backstroke with a 2:02.99 to win by nearly seven seconds.
Teammates
Alex Chan and Niro duked it out in the 500-yard freestyle with Chan touching first in a 5:14.96.
Phillips' 200-yard breaststoke would result in a 2:20.16 and a first place while Mongiovi followed with a .11 differential.
The Pride wrapped up the meet with a 1:31.35 win in the 200-yard freestyle relay featuring the quad of Niro, Rauch,
Kyle Cantrell, and Delgado.
