CHESTER, Pa. – Jackson and Chan anchor must win relay to capture the first victory of the 2024-25 season in the Schwartz Athletic Center.
The Pride capture a 138-123 win to move to 1-0 in the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
To open the meet,
Shane Douthit,
Dan Jackson, Matt Niro, and
Alex Chan took home a first in the 200-yard medley relay with a final time of 1:37.72.
First year
Sean Lehan captured the first individual event win in the 1000-yard free with a final time of 10:18.07.
Jackson's first individual event resulted in a two second gap in the 200-yard freestyle. Jackson would lead throughout the race and clock in a 1:47.15 final time to open his season.
In the 50-yard breaststroke, Chan took home his first individual win by over a second. Chan's 27.89 led into a
Michael Machristie third place finish. A few events later, Chan took his second win in the 50-yard freestyle with a 22.12.
Kyle Cantrell sprinted to a second in the 100-yard freestyle where he clocked a 51.41.
A 2-3 finish in the 100-yard backstroke from Pat Rauch and Niro would give the Pride some points. Rauch clocked a 57.23 while Niro finished in a 57.53.
Niro and
Joshua Cunningham split the second place points in the 50-yard butterfly with a 24.59.
Jackson's second win came in the 200-yard individual medley where he won by two seconds in a 2:01.06.
The final must win relay for the Blue and Gold ended with
Kyle Cantrell,
Zach Delgado, Cunningham, and Chan capturing first in a 3:18.91. Chan highlighted the relay with a 47.99 split.
UP NEXT
Widener returns to the pool on Saturday, Oct. 26 for Homecoming Weekend. The Pride will host Hood, King's, and Messiah with the first splash set for noon.
