YORK, Pa. – The next stop for Widener men's track and field is the MAC Championships. The Pride will be in York, Pa. from May 4-6, as York College is this year's host.
Prior to the MAC Championships, the Pride competed at a variety of events this season. They hosted two events: the Danny Curran Invitational from March 31-April 1, and the Widener Invitational from April 21-22. The Pride tied with Rowan University for seventh place out of 31 teams at the Widener Invitational.
Samuel Knowles has had a stellar season on the track. Just in the last few weeks, Knowles has placed career-bests in 200 meters and 400 meters. He hit 21.71 seconds in 200 meters at the Blue Jay Tune-Up on the weekend of April 28-29. At the Widener Invitational the weekend before that, Knowles ran 400 meters in 47.07 seconds.
Alex Kristeller is a thrower for the Pride. At the Larry Ellis Invitational from April 14-15, Kristeller hit a career-best 64.19 meters in hammer throw. That was good for eighth place at that event. He also had a career-best in discus throw at the Danny Curran Invitational, recording 42.16 meters. That was good for ninth place.
Alden Littlefield is also a thrower. His most recent career-best came at the Danny Curran Invitational. He put himself in fifth place by logging a 58.91-meter hammer throw. At the Penn Relays from April 27-29, he threw a shot put for 16.30 meters. Littlefield was .56 meters short of tying his career-best, which was done at MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships back in February.
The three student-athletes recently had All-American performances in the indoor track and field season earlier this year.
Thursday's events are free of charge. For Friday and Saturday, the ticket prices are as follows: $5 (adults), $4 (senior citizens), $2 (students with valid ID and children), and preschool children under six years old with an adult get in for free.
