HOW IT HAPPENED AT EDITH R. DIXON FIELD
The Blazers took the opening draw. A few Hood shots were unsuccessful, but they put their only goal in the net with 11:13 left in the quarter on a Widener turnover. Clark Trowbridge tied the score less than 90 seconds later. Hood was not protecting the ball well, recording six turnovers in the first 15 minutes of action. Although two Widener shots missed with under five minutes left, Ward scored with 4:21 left to go up 2-1. A saved free-position shot from Catherine Scott was the final play of the quarter. Widener led 2-1 after the first quarter.

A ground ball and a successful clear turned into points for the Pride, as Annalee Doyle put the initial score in the net of the second quarter. Although Widener missed a free-position shot with under 12 minutes in the half, they would make up for it. At 10:48, Ward made a free-position shot to increase the score to 4-1. This was one of three goals in the span of a minute. Jamie DeHaven and Ward cashed in to lead 6-1. Hood played good defense following Widener's sixth goal. They would not allow another shot for about three minutes, and they would not allow another goal until 27 seconds remaining in the half. Trowbridge scored the seventh goal, on an assist by Alex Krohn. The Pride were up at halftime 7-1.

Both teams exchanged turnovers as the third quarter was underway. Hood and Widener were aggressive in taking shots, but some were wide. A yellow card on Hood led to a good clear attempt for Widener. Scott scored on a man-up opportunity. Even though the Pride got a green card with under six minutes to go, that did not stop them from taking more shots. Widener would add two more goals for the quarter, one from Maddie Phillips and one from Ward. Through three quarters, the score was 10-1 Widener.

The Pride scooped up two ground balls in 25 seconds before cashing in on yet another goal. Krohn put both the 11th and 12th Widener goals in the net. Trowbridge and Scott were the final two scorers of the evening, giving Widener a commanding 13 point lead. Widener took advantage of more Hood turnovers to create a lead that was too much for the visitors to overcome. The Pride won the game 14-1.
