READING, Pa. - The Widener women's lacrosse team continues their conference win streak with a fourth win against Albright.
The Pride is 4-0 in MAC conference play improves their overall record to 9-4.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Kaeley Cristello broke the Widener all-time caused turnover record, seeing four caused turnovers against the Lions.
- Annalee Doyle and Catherine Scott led Pride's offense with three goals each.
- Alex Krohn and Katie Ward led in assists with two each.
- Defensively, Katie Rosini saw five saves in goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST ALBRIGHT
Widener had to start battling right away as the Albright offense scored two goals within the first two minutes of play.
Clark Trowbridge answered quickly with a Pride goal and put the score at 2-1 with twelve minutes remaining in the first period. Two minutes later
Katie Ward scored again to tie the score at 2-2. A free-position attempt put
Annalee Doyle in scoring posting where she found the back of the net and Widener took the lead with 9:35 on the clock. At 7:18,
Alex Krohn scored off a
Katie Ward assist but Albright caplitizled off Widener being man-down and scored shortly after. With two minutes remaining,
Catherine Scott scored and then
Annalee Doyle scored again to put the score at 6-3 to finish the first period.
The second period saw less scoring action but the Pride offense still found a way to extend their lead with a Cat Scott goal. With 5:22 remaining in the half, Scott found the back of the net again and put the Pride ahead by five. Albright answered with one last goal and the two teams finish the half with the score sitting at 8-4.
Coming out of halftime looking to keep and extend their lead,
Chloe Mingioni score off the opening draw. The two teams went back and forth and the Pride outshot the Lions, eight to five shots this period.
The fourth period saw more goals for the Blue and Gold as
Katie Ward scored off of a free-positon attempt a minute in. Halfway through the period with the score sitting at 10-6, Doyle scored off another free-position shot. Trowbridge scored the final goal with 2:43 remaining and Widener walks away with another conference win.
