HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST STEVENSON
In a conference match-up on the road, the Widener women's lacrosse team battled hard against the Mustangs. Looking at the stat lines, nearly every stat line was even, but the Mustangs capitalized off of Pride fouls and were able to score off of free-position shots. The Pride offense got things started as
Katie Ward found the back of the net to score the game's first goal. Unfortunately, this was the Pride's only goal of the first period as the Mustangs scored five, two goals coming off a free-position attempt.
Coming out in the second period looking to lessen the score gap, Clark Trowbrigde scored with 9:54 on the clock to put the score at 6-2. The Mustangs saw two more free-position goals, as well as two additional goals, to extend their lead by eight goals. WIth 2:31 remaining in the half,
Chloe Mingioni found
Annalee Doyle for a goal and the two teams head into halftime with a score of 11-3.
The third period saw some fire put back in the Pride offense as Trowbridge scored Widener's fist goal of the second half. At 9:41, Ward found herself at the arches and made a free-position shot to put the score at 5-12. Three minutes later, Trowbridge and Doyle scored back-to-back goals to add two to the Blue and Gold score. The Mustangs scored one last free-positon shot and the Pride walk away with a 7-14 loss.
