HOW IT HAPPENED AT EDITH R. DIXON FIELD
The Spartans won the initial draw control. Logan Ward of York scored her team's first two goals of the day. Although Widener had a shot attempt, York kept firing away. The visitors had their third goal with 7:41 left. The two sides exchanged turnovers as the defenses showed their might. However, the Spartans' attack was white-hot to end the first quarter. They scored four goals in the span of nearly four minutes. The last two were on free-position shots. York was ahead 7-0 in the first quarter.

To begin the second quarter, Makayla Cox was assessed a yellow card. At 14:05, the Spartans cashed in on a man-up goal. The Pride's defense strengthened at the start of the second quarter. After York's eighth goal, two Spartans' shots were missed. The Pride would also force a shot-clock violation. York forced a shot-clock violation on Widener moments later, though. For the remaining four goals of the half scored by the visitors, they came in bunches. York scored two goals, which was followed by a four-and-a-half minute gap. The last two goals were scored in the final three minutes of the half. The second quarter ended on a wide York shot. The Spartans led 12-0 after the first half.

Widener's defense saw more success in the third quarter, as they only allowed two goals. At 10:45, a green card was given to York. The Spartans scored their 13th goal of the day nearly two minutes later. The Pride were successful on their clear attempts, but a few turnovers eliminated scoring drives. Yellow cards were assessed on both teams in the second half of the third quarter. The Spartans had a man-up goal as the clock neared zeroes. York was up 14-0 through three quarters.

Widener's offense finally got on the board in the fourth quarter, cashing in on four goals to York's one. Jordyn Edwards put one through the net at 13:31. After a good clear attempt, Katie Ward gave the Pride their second goal. The other two Widener scores were from Catherine Scott and Jamie DeHaven. Scott's was on a man-up situation. Widener would score four goals in a row before the Spartans scored their final goal. Despite Widener's scoring blitz in the fourth, the Spartans' advantage was too great. The final score was York 15-4.
