CHESTER, Pa. – Widener men's lacrosse rolled over the Albright Lions in a MAC Commonwealth showdown at home.
 
After the 25-7 win, the Pride move to 6-6 in the regular season and 3-1 in MAC Commonwealth play.

HOW IT HAPPENED AT HIRSCHMANN FIELD
 
The Pride jumped to a quick lead just a minute into the game. A Haverstrom goal from 
Bryant Maits set the Pride up one. Just seconds later, Haverstrom ripped a second shot that was saved. Scoring fell quiet until 8:34 of the quarter when 
Liam Drake earned his first goal of the season to put the Pride up two. After a quick Jack Witchendahl faceoff win and a 
Nick Brennan ground ball, Heisman saw his first goal of the game from a 
Jimmy Knepp pass. The Pride scoring continued for the remainder of the quarter where the Pride opened with seven goals. In the scoring summary was Haverstrom finding his second, Heisman finding another, Brennan grabbing his first of the game, and 
Nicholas Knepp.
 
The Lions opened the second quarter with a goalie change but that didn't stop the shooting fest from Heisman and N. Knepp. After a turnover caused by Maits and a failed clear, Heisman found a man-up goal to make the score 8-0 with 14:11 on the clock. After more pestering shots, 
Angus Ballentine saw his first goal of the game with an assist from Heisman. Less than 30 seconds later Haverstrom scored again to make the score 10-0. A J. Knepp penalty gave the Lions a man-up opportunity which was capitalize on. A failed clear from the Lions allowed Heisman to answer right back. 
Colin Wingate saw his first goal with 7:50 on the clock. A caused turnover from 
Drew Venit allowed Haverstrom to score again from a N. Knepp pass. The Pride went into halftime leading 13-2.
 
A quick faceoff win from the Lions allowed them to score first. With just under five minutes into the third 
Robert Watkins saw his first goal of the game from a 
Matthew Marino ball. Mike Kala'I grabbed his first goal with 10:21 in the third. A 
Sam Heister save turned into a good clear and a Marino goal. The Pride continued the scoring by tacking on five more goals to end the quarter up 20-4. In the string of five were goals from 
Garrett Schulz, Kala'i, Marino and Wingate.
 
The goals continued to pour on in the fourth with Luke Chichetti scoring three minutes into the quarter from a 
Cam Hazel pass. A few turnovers on both sides turned into five minutes of scoreless play. 
Luke Pollick broke the scoring drought with a goal from C.J. Lane to make the score 22-4. A slashing penalty gave the Lions a scoring opportunity which was capitalized on as the Lions cut into the deficit. Chichetti answered quickly with a 
Matt Ellison assist. As time ticked down under three minutes Hazel saw a goal to extend the lead and Alminde capped off the Pride scoring with the 25
th goal. On the evening, the Pride went 1 of 1 in extra man opportunities and 26 of 29 in successful clears.

Widener returns to Hirschmann Field on Saturday to honor their seniors. Game time against the 6-6 Stevenson Mustangs is set for 1 p.m. with senior day activities beginning at 12:45 p.m.
