CLEARWATER, Fla. – Senior
Katie Ward recorded a season high with seven goals in a 12-10 victory over the Drew Rangers in a sunny Florida morning game.
Following the victory, the Pride advance to 3-2 in regular season and will face off against Lebanon Valley in their first MAC Commonwealth contest later in March.

HOW IT HAPPENED IN THE SUNSHINE STATE
Ward opening the scoring gates on a free position shot for the Pride with 7:03 remaining in the first after a slow start in the sunny, humid Florida heat. Following the Ward goal, the team began to sink into the game and outscore the Rangers 3-2 in the first. With a
Maddie Phillips caused turnover and good clear, Ward found the back of the cage again to tie the game. A Katie Rosini save set the offense up with under a minute on the board.
Chloe Mingioni took a shot and grabbed her own ground ball to turn it into a pass to Ward. In a man-up situation, Ward continued her perfect stretch with another goal.
The second quarter brought a wealth of goals for the Blue and Gold with five. On a quick draw control win from
Jamie DeHaven, Krohn found the back of the cage to open the second from a Scott pass. With 10:48 on the board the combination was flipped with a goal from Scott on a Krohn pass. The score was now 5-2.
Annalee Doyle snagged her second goal of the season to add one to the Pride tally off a Krohn assist.
Kaely Cristello created a turnover with :20 seconds ticking down to set the Scott up for another goal. A quick draw control win by Scott sent the Pride rushing down the field on last time before halftime. As time expired, Mingioni earned her first goal of the season with a Scott dish. The Pride went into halftime up 8-2.
Coming out of halftime, the Florida humidity caused some fatigue as the Pride gave up three goals to one. After a few turnovers, the Pride called a timeout to reset. The timeout called by Head Coach
Sophie Bass created a spark in the offense. Ward turned things around for the offense with her fourth goal of the game from a DeHaven pass with 2:39 remaining. The Pride went into the fourth quarter with a 9-5 lead.
With 15 minutes left in the game, a
Maddie Reeser save sent the ball downfield to setup a Ward goal in front of the cage from a Krohn pass. The Rangers found the back of the cage two more times to cut their gap down to three with 11:37 left. Ward continued her string of scoring opportunities with another goal as Krohn earned a ground ball pickup. A Ranger goal answered the Pride score to cause a Widener timeout with just under four minutes. In the last points of the game, Ward capped off her perfect 7 of 7 shots to goal opportunities to make the score 12-9. The Pride would end the game with a 12-10 victory.
