HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pride opened the game with a scoreless first quarter. A draw control win from
Maddie Phillips with 12:35 on the board sent the Pride close to adding one from a
Catherine Scott shot. The Pride looked to capitalize off a Cabrini turnover and ground ball pickup from
Amanda Dill, but unfortunately could not seal the point. Another shot from Scott with 7:39 remaining again saw the mesh of Cabrini goalie Abbey Fenton.
Katie Ward looked to change the drought on a free position shot with 5:32 on the clock and again two minutes later. The Blue and Gold went into the second tied in shots at seven.
Three minutes into the second registered the first goal of the Pride after a Scott goal from a
Jamie DeHaven pass. With 3:44 on the board,
Chloe Mingioni found her second season goal to cut the Cavalier lead to six. The Blue and Gold put the burners on to score another goal with 2:12 from a free position shot by Ward. Following Ward's goal, the Pride went into halftime with a 8-3 deficit.
Coming out of half, a successful draw control from
Clark Trowbridge and a yellow card on Cabrini's Cassidy Starner helped set the ladies up for a man up goal from
Alex Krohn. Krohn's goal was assisted by
Annalee Doyle. With just over 1:30 remaining in the third, a ground ball pickup from Phillips turned into a successful clear and Krohn's second goal of the game. As time expired Ward found the back of the net on a free position shot which was reminiscent to Mingioni's goal earlier this week. The Pride went into the fourth quarter down 11-6.
A quick draw control from DeHaven to open the fourth sent Ward into the offensive zone for her third goal of the game just less than a minute in. Two Cavalier shots were stopped by Rosini to give the Pride a shot. With under half remaining, the Pride looked to shorten the margin as Ward hit the post and seconds later Trowbridge had a shot blocked. After a quick pickup from Doyle and pass to Scott, Scott found the back of the cage to make the score 13-8 in favor of Cabrini. Scott ended the scoring for both teams with :13 seconds on the board to make the final score 13-9. As a team, the ladies shot 28 times and went 15 of 18 in clears.
