Women's Lacrosse Top Lebanon Valley in First Conference Game of Season

DeHaven, Trowbridge see four goals each

ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Widener women's lacrosse team picks up their first conference win of the season against Lebanon Valley on the road.

The Pride is now 6-4 on the season and 1-0 in MAC conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST LEBANON VALLEY

The Pride got on the board right away after Katie Ward capitalized off a Lebanon Valley foul and scored off a free-position shot. Clark Trowbridge followed suit and scored off another free-position shot and take a 2-0 lead. The Dutchmen score with 10:29 on the clock but a pair of back-to-back goals from Katie Ward off assists from Alex Krohn and Annalee Doyle extend the Pride lead. With the score sitting at 4-1, Jamie DeHaven finds the back of the net for the Pride, but the Dutchmen go on to score three more goals. Widener leads 5-4 to finish the first period. 

Looking to keep and extend their lead, both teams took their time to get a goal. With 8:24 on the clock, Trowbridge scored for the Pride and a few minutes later, the Dutchmen answered and closed the score gap to one goal, finishing the half with the score sitting at 6-5.

Opening up the second half, Lebanon Valley's offense attacked immediately and tied the score 6-6 off a free-position shot. At 11:11, Krohn scored a goal for the Pride from a Chloe Mingioni assist. A few minutes later, with the score sitting at 8-6, Ward scored off a free-positon shot. Less than two minutes later, Amelia Alminde found Catherine Scott for another Pride goal. Ward scored one last free-positon goal to finish out the third period. Widener leads 10-6.

The Pride offense got scoring after Grace Lindberger caused a turnover, picked up the ground ball, and got a successful clear. From there, Alex Krohn found Catherine Scott for a goal, putting the score at 11-6. A pair of back-to-back goals from Trowbridge and one last goal by DeHaven secure the victory for Widener and the Pride finish the day with a 14-8 win over the Dutchmen.

The Pride return home to Dixon Field to take on Eastern for Senior Day. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
