CHESTER, Pa. - The Widener women's lacrosse fought hard on both sides of the ball, but could not get ahead of the Fords, walking away with a 10-9 loss.
The Pride is now 1-2 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST HAVERFORD
The Pride and the Fords stayed within two goals of each other the entire game, sparsely leaving a goal unanswered. Haverford got on the board right away with two goals in the first two minutes. Widener's DeHaven quickly answered with a goal, putting the score at 2-1 in favor of the Fords with just under thirteen minutes on the clock. With 8:04 on the clock, Trowbridge tied the score 2-2. The Fords put one more in to finish the quarter and time runs out with the score sitting at 3-2.
The Pride came out in the second quarter looking to gain a lead and Scott got the Pride offense going with a goal three minutes into the quarter off an
Alex Krohn assist. A shot clock violation with 5:12 on the clock put Haverford in a scoring position and the Fords put the score at 4-3. A man-down goal from Doyle tied the scores up but that was quickly answered by the Fords. The two teams entered halftime with the Fords ahead by one goal.
Opening the second half with two Haverford goals, Pride's offense got going from a Ward turnover and ground-ball pick-up by Doyle. Ward found the back of the net, bringing the score to 7-5. The two teams went back and forth causing turnovers, but with 3:31 remaining, Sam Silverman scored for the Fords. A goal with 0:24 on the clock from DeHaven brought the score 8-6 to finish the third.
Ward opened the scoring gates for the Pride with a Doyle assist to answer a Ford goal. With six minutes remaining, the Fords scored their tenth goal but the Pride wasn't finished yet. Trowbridge found the back of the net with just under five minutes remaining and Doyle scored the game's final goal with 1:07 on the clock. The Pride walk away with a 10-9 loss.
