HOW IT HAPPENED AT CLOTHIER FIELD STADIUM
A draw control by Clark Trowbridge began the game for Widener. Just under the 12-minute mark, the Garnet got their first goal of the afternoon. Swarthmore took advantage of turnovers by the Pride, as they cashed in on their second goal. Toward the end of the first quarter, DeHaven put one in the net with three minutes to go. Despite this, Widener was down 3-1 through the first 15 minutes.

After a ground ball and a successful clear attempt by Swarthmore, the Garnet scored their fourth goal of the day. DeHaven answered right back not even a minute later, off an Alex Krohn assist. The score was 4-2 Swarthmore. DeHaven's second goal would be the first of three consecutive scores for Widener. The Pride used a Garnet turnover to get Catherine Scott in the scoring column. Amelia Alminde, from another Krohn assist, tied the score at 4-4. However, Swarthmore outscored Widener 2-1 for the remainder of the quarter. The half ended on a Trowbridge ground ball. The Pride went to the locker room with a 6-5 deficit.

The third quarter was the only one of the game in which the Pride did not score. Despite this, the Garnet scored twice. Widener also picked up two yellow cards in the initial six minutes of the third quarter. Although the Pride got a few shots up, they were unsuccessful in their attempts to take a lead. Swarthmore led after three quarters by a score of 8-5.

To begin the fourth, the Garnet were sloppy on offense. They had three turnovers in the first four minutes. However, their defense prevented Widener from getting easy scores. Trowbridge scored the only goal of the quarter for either team with 3:59 remaining. The score was 8-6 Swarthmore, which was also the final score. Despite four second-quarter goals, the Pride could not find a rhythm in the second half.
