GRANTHAM, Pa. – Even with a strong 2023 season, Widener men's soccer could not overcome the Messiah University Falcons in the MAC Commonwealth Championship match. They lost 3-0 on Saturday. It's the second consecutive year Widener has lost to Messiah in the Championship match.

The Pride end the season at 13-4-2 with a 3-2-2 MAC record.

BY THE NUMBERS

• Widener had four shots (one on goal). Messiah had 20 shots (10 on goal).
• The Falcons won the battle of corner kicks, 10-3.
• Ryan Van Pelt made seven saves in goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MESSIAH

• The Pride kept the Falcons scoreless for 22 minutes. Messiah would score at 22:25 to make the score 1-0.
• The score would remain 1-0 for the remainder of the first half.
• The match stayed at 1-0 for over 15 minutes into the second half. However, the Pride were unable to prevent the Falcons from putting shots in the net. The home team scored two goals in under four minutes to go up 3-0.
