FREDERICK, Md. - Widener Field Hockey starts conference play on a high note with a 2-0 win at Hood College. 

The Pride improve to 4-6 on the season and start 1-0 in conference play. Conference games continue on Wednesday, October 11th at Albright College. 

BY THE NUMBERS 

• Emma Lavin and Maddie Hoyer with the two goals for the Pride

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• The first quarter was a defensive one as neither team scored despite a Juliana Sanchez shot on goal that was saved 

• Maddie Hoyer breaks the scoreless tie at the end of the second quarter to end the half 1-0 

• Maddie Hoyer starts the second half where she left off, assisting a score to Emma Lavin as the Pride take a 2-0 lead to end the third quarter 

• The fourth quarter ends without a shot on goal as Widener takes a 2-0 win 

UP NEXT 

Widener will take a quick rest and play a make-up game at Goucher College. That game is set for tomorrow, October 8th at 1pm.
