Women’s Soccer Wins First Road Game of the Season in Maryland Matchup

The Pride are on a Two-Match Winning Streak

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Widener women's soccer shut out the Stevenson University Mustangs on Tuesday 2-0. This match was Stevenson's Breast Cancer Awareness Game.

The Pride are 4-6-4 on the season. They are 2-2 against MAC opponents.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • Widener had 12 shots (seven on goal). Stevenson had 14 shots (eight on goal).
  • The Pride had five corner kicks, compared to zero from the Mustangs.
  • In goal, Samantha Coon made seven saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST STEVENSON
  • Both goals by the Pride came in the second half. Maggie Boyes scored first at 54:21. It was her first goal of the year.
  • At 63:32, Widener went up 2-0, thanks to Melissa Koch's goal. Nicole Buonavolta had the assist.
  • All four of Alyssa Carman's shots were on goal, leading the team in both categories. Boyes was second on the Pride with three shots.
  • Kelly Barr was assessed a yellow card at 87:42.
  • The Pride only had two fouls. The Mustangs had seven.

The Pride will return home to host the Albright College Lions on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. It will also be the Pride's Senior Day.
