CHESTER,Pa. - The Widener women's soccer team took on defending national champion Christopher Newport in its sixth match of the season Sunday afternoon. The Pride was unable to score and fell to the No. 1 ranked Captains, 5-0, at Elizabeth J. Hirschmann Field at Leslie C. Quick, Jr. Stadium.
The loss put the Pride at 2-2-2 on the season
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT
- The Pride limited the Captains to two goals in the first half. However, the Captains scored three times in a 20-minute span in the second half to stay unbeaten on the year at 6-0-1.
- Samantha Coon and Nicole Rende did the best they could for the Pride in net, as they collectively made 11 saves on the day. Rende had six saves, while Coon stopped five shots.
