CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener baseball team exploded for a season-high 23 runs to power its way past Immaculata, 23-9, in seven innings for its fifth straight win Monday afternoon at the Widener University baseball field.
With the win, the Pride are now 15-13 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST IMMACULATA
- Trailing, 5-3, through the top of the third, the Pride pushed across nine runs on seven hits to take a 12-5 lead through three innings. Justin Costanzo blasted a two-run home run for his MAC Commonwealth-leading 11th homer of the season, and Kyle Brex and Anthony Boccio both had two-run doubles in the inning.
- Widener continued an explosive offensive effort in the sixth, scoring eight more runs to take a commanding 20-6 lead. Stephen Posner smacked a three-run homer, Austin Oliver hit a three-run double, Xavier Ruley had an RBI single, and Brandon Reis brought in a run on a sacrifice fly during the inning.
- The Pride tallied their final three runs in the seventh, two coming on a single from Ryan Weaver and one an error. The Pride offense had a season-high 23 hits. The Blue and Gold had over 20 runs and 20 hits in a single game for the first time since 2019, when they also had 23 runs and 23 hits in a 23-6 win over Lebanon Valley.
- Austin Oliver led the Pride at the dish, going 4-for-5 with three doubles and three RBIs. Bryce Fremgen also went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored and Jason Morgan went 3-for-6 with a double, three RBIs, and two runs scored,
- Boccio recorded two doubles, Brex had a double and a single, Costanzo had his homer and a single, and Ruley and Reis had two hits apiece.

Widener will be back in action on Saturday when it hosts Messiah in a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader. Game one is set for noon, with the nightcap to follow at 3 p.m.
