ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – Clark Trowbridge and
Katie Ward both recorded hat tricks while leading the Widener women's lacrosse team to a convincing 16-1 win over Easter in its MAC Commonwealth opener Wednesday afternoon at Eastern University.
With the win, the Pride improved to 6-3 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST EASTERN
- The Pride scored 10 of their 16 goals in the first half, putting in four goals in the first quarter and six in the second. Trowbridge, Ward, Gab Cohen, and Annalee Doyle had two goals apiece in the half.
- With a running clock to start the second half, the Pride increased their advantage to 15 through the third after scoring five goals in the period. Trowbridge, Ward, Jamie DeHaven, Amelia Alminde, and Chloe Mingioni scored during the period.
- After Eastern got on a the scoreboard with 10:55 remaining, the Pride received their final goal from Olivia McDonald with 4:42 left.
- Trowbridge tallied her first career hat trick and led the Pride with four points after also dishing out one assist. The first-year midfielder also led Widener with seven draw controls
- Ward notched her sixth career hat trick in the win. Ward and Cohen added three points apiece in the victory.
- Defensively, Maddie Medve made four saves in the first half before giving way to Katelyn Rosini and Maddie Reeser, who split goalkeeping duties in the second half. Kaely Cristello led the Pride with three caused turnovers.
