SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Tied after three quarters, the Widener women's lacrosse team scored four goals in the fourth quarter to earn a 12-9 victory over Swarthmore in its first road game of the season Saturday afternoon at Clothier Field Stadium.
The Pride are now 2-0 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST SWARTHMORE
- With the game tied at 8, the Pride took the lead seven seconds into the fourth quarter after Katie Ward found the back of the net off a pass from Catherine Scott.
- After Swarthmore scored a goal seven minutes later, the Pride answered with three goals over the next four minutes to pull away for the win. Amber Bretz scored the go-ahead goal - her fourth goal of the game — with 6:30 remaining, while Jamie DeHaven scored her third goal of the game with 4:10 left, and Scott added the insurance goal with 2:56 left.
- Along with Bretz's four goals and DeHaven's three scores, Katie Ward scored two goals. Clark Trowbridge and Gab Cohen each contributed one for the Pride.
- Maddie Medve made 11 saves for the Pride to pick up a win in net.

The Pride will hit the road again, as it will face Elizabethtown in a non-conference matchup Tuesday. First draw is set for 4 p.m.
