MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – The Widener men's soccer team concluded their post season run against #1 Messiah in the MAC Commonwealth Championship Saturday evening. The 2022 season turned into a historic one for the Pride as they qualified and advanced to the MAC Commonwealth Championship for the first time in over a decade.
Following the loss, the Pride move to 11-6-2 and remain at 6-1-1 in MAC Commonwealth play.
HOW IT HAPPENED IN MECHANICSBURG
- The Pride took two shots for the duration of the match but were unable to find the back of the net. Sean Fatiga and Carter Hoover led the offensive with the two shots trying to create a spark for the team.
- As for Messiah, they scored four in the first half and finished off the game with an additional goal in the 70th minute.
- The Falcons peppered goalkeeper Ryan Van Pelt for 71 minutes keeping him busy with seven saves. Van Pelt's season saves totals 118 shots faced.
- Teammate Andrew Garofalo found 17 minutes of playing time and making three saves.
