FREDERICK, Md. – The Widener women's volleyball team fought hard against #2 ranked Stevenson University in the MAC Commonwealth semifinal match on Wednesday evening but fell short in three sets.
After the loss, the Pride conclude their 2022 season 13-14 and 5-3 in MAC Commonwealth play.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST THE MUSTANGS
- The Pride find themselves in the MAC Commonwealth tournament for the fourth time in the past six seasons, this year beginning their playoff berth in the semifinals against Stevenson.
- In set 1, the Blue and Gold battled back and forth until 10-11 when the Mustangs go on a 14-6 run to end the set 25-16.
- In the second set, Widener tried to take the lead but went back and forth to eventually fall 7-4 Mustang run fall to a two-set deficit in a 25-15 set 2 loss.
- In the final set, the Pride keep it close with a few couple of kills from Lilyanna Martucci and Emily Miller. The Mustangs seal the three-set win with a 5-1 run in the middle of the set and run the final score to 25-19.
- Martucci led the Pride with 11 kills. On the season, Martucci racked up 240 kills to lead the team.
- Megan Barthol set up teammates with 18 assists and ten digs. Barthol furthers her season assists with 840.
