NEW ORLEANS – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2022 NCAA Division III Regional Awards on Tuesday, November 15
th.
Logan Stroman and
Gabby Nye of Widener women's cross country were named Metro Region Women's Coach of the Year and Women's Athlete of the Year.
Stroman and Nye will complete their historic 2022 season in Lansing, Michigan this coming Saturday. Recently, Stroman and Nye competed at the 2022 NCAA Division III Metro Regional Championships and came home with a victory and an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Championships.
The Shippensburg, Pa. native, Nye, came home with an individual title at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships and most recently an individual title at the Metro Region Championships this past weekend. Nye finished in a 22:49.3 which helped earn the Pride their first qualification ever. Her memorable season includes a handful of awards such as MAC Runner of the Year, MAC Athlete of the Week, and All-MAC First Team.
Stroman earned Metro Region Women's Coach of the Year as well after the team's performance. His seventh season unleashed a wealth of success with a team title at the MAC Championships, team title at the NCAA Metro Regional Championships, and MAC Coach of the Year. Stroman has experience coaching top level runners such as
Katelyn Bernotas and
Emily Cooney who have also helped the Pride this season capture two team titles.
Widener's season concludes this weekend in Lansing, MI where Stroman, Nye, and company compete at the 2022 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships. Race time is set for 11 a.m. and can be watched at ncaa.com.
