Six From Men’s Soccer Garner All-MAC Honors for 2022 Season

Fatiga, Vetter, Van Pelt receive first-team honors, Atify picked for second-team, Doyle and Toporowski earn honorable mentions

ANNVILLE, Pa.- Sean Fatiga, Christian Vetter, and Ryan Van Pelt of Widener men's soccer received All-MAC Commonwealth first-team honors for the 2022 season, the conference announced on Friday. Along with these three Pride players, junior midfielder Monsif Atify was selected to the All-MAC second-team, and Ryan Toporowski and Christian Doyle received honorable mentions for their 2022 season effort.

The Pride made it to the 2022 MAC Commonwealth Championship tournament this season and finished the year with an 11-6-2 record. 

Fatiga, a junior forward, earned his spot on the first team after scoring 13 goals on the season. He is ranked number two in goals, shots, and shots on goal in all of the MAC Commonwealth. He also leads the conference in game-winning goals with five. Fatiga, the 2021 MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Year, earns a spot on the first team for the second time in his career and helped the Pride into the 2022 MAC Commonwealth Championship.

Christian Vetter, a sophomore defender, earns his first All-MAC first-team honors. A staple to the Pride defense, Vetter started in 18 games this season and helped the Pride defense see six shutouts. On average, the Pride defense allowed only 1.32 goals per game, ranked third in the MAC Commonwealth.

Van Pelt, a junior goalkeeper, finds himself on the All-MAC first team after a tremendous season in goal for the Pride. Van Pelt, had 59 saves on the season, averaging 3.69 saves per game. Van Pelt is ranked second in the MAC in shutouts per game with four.

Selected for the All-MAC second-team, sophomore midfielder Monsif Atify earns his first All-MAC selection. Atify leads the Pride in assists with five and was a powerful player on both sides of the ball. Atify also scored two goals this season, against Rutger-Camden (9/5) and Messiah (10/29).

Ryan Toporowski and Christian Doyle walk away from the 2022 season with honorable mention honors. Toporowski, a first-year midfielder, played in 19 games for the Pride and tallied two goals and two assists on the season. Toporowski scored in the game against Cairn (9/10) and against Hood (10/22).

Junior defender Christian Doyle helped the Pride's defensive effort this season. Doyle played 19 games for the Pride and played a part in their six shutouts on the season.
