Field Hockey Adds Victory to Defeat Eastern 3-1

Sanchez, Hoyer, and Labezius help conference record

ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – Widener's Field Hockey team pick up a conference victory on the road Wednesday evening against the Eastern University Eagles 3-1.
 
The Pride rise to 9-6 on the season and 4-2 in MAC Commonwealth Play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST THE EAGLES
  • After a scoreless first period, Juliana Sanchez finds the back of the cage from Jesse Schlosser. Sanchez earned her seventh goal of the season while leading the Pride to a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
  • Maddie Hoyer scored off a pass by Makenzie Adamson with the Pride leading 2-0 into the 4th. 
  • A penalty stroke by Katie Labzieus in the 4th quarter sealed the deal and earned the Pride a 3-1 win against Eastern.
  • First year Lilly Rejrat kept Eastern scoreless in the first three quarters and added three saves to her career total.
UP NEXT
Widener returns to Chester to host a MAC Commonwealth game against Hood College and Senior Day on Saturday. Game time is a set for 1 p.m.
