GLENSIDE, Pa. –
Mia Ruggiero had a hand in winning four events while leading the Widener women's swimming team to a 140-122 win over Arcadia on Friday in a MAC dual meet at Arcadia University.
A first-year swimmer, Ruggiero won the 200-yard individual medley, 50 freestyle, and 100 backstroke while helping the 200 free relay team earn a victory. The Conshohocken, Pa. native won the IM in a time of 2:19.67, took the 50 free in 26.45 and touched the wall first in the 100 back in 1:02.75. Ruggiero's time in the IM was good for the eighth-best time among MAC swimmers this season.
In the 200 free relay, Ruggerio,
Lauren Kalsbeek,
Azaria Luckey, and
Olivia Downs combined for a time of 1:44.43 to win the event.
Widener also saw strong performances from Kalsbeek, who had a hand in winning three events.
A first-year swimmer, Kalsbeek won the 500-yard freestyle and 200 free in addition to being a part of the winning 200 free relay team. The Redding, Calif. native won the 500 free in a time of 5:32.34 and touched the wall first in the 200 free in 2:04.59. Kalsbeek's time in the 500 free was good for the sixth-best time in the MAC this season. Kalsbeek also finished second in the 100 free.
The Pride also saw
Angelina Franceschini win the 100 butterfly and 200 fly in the meet. Franceschini touched the wall first in the 100 fly in 1:01.76 and won the 200 fly in 2:20.87. The Lawrenceville, N.J. native also finished second in the 200 free.
Widener also received top-three finishes in the meet from
Sally Meyers (second in 200 fly),
Anna Durboraw (second in 1,000 free and third in 200 breast),
Mary Sanders (second in 1,000 free, third in 200 free, and third in 100 fly), Downs (third in 100 free),
Emma Reistle (second in 200 back, third in 100 back, and third in 500 free),
Caitlin Blaum (third in 100 breaststroke), and
Jenna Angelucci (third in 200 back)

The Pride will host Ramapo next Saturday in their final dual meet regular season. The meet, which is Senior Day, is set for 1 p.m.
