CHESTER, Pa. - Widener University Athletics will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the 1981 National Championship football team at Homecoming on Saturday when the Pride host Wilkes on Elizabeth J. Hirschmann Field at Leslie C. Quick, Jr. Stadium.
The 1981 team will be honored and recognized on the field during halftime for its amazing achievements during its campaign. The Pride went a perfect 13-0 and 8-0 in MAC play en route to winning the second national title in school history.
The Pride topped Dayton, 17-10, in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl following wins over West Georgia (10-3) and Montclair State (23-12) in the NCAA Tournament.
Returning team members will be welcomed at the Homecoming Tailgate Village to register and proceed to meet just before halftime near the home side end zone for the halftime presentation. To register for the Homecoming Tailgate Village,

In addition, there will be a host of Homecoming events that will be taking place this week, including the annual Pennsylvania Military College Broom Drill and Homecoming Parade presented by the Widener Student Government Association.
