ST DAVIDS, Pa. – The Widener University softball team was upended in a doubleheader by conference rival Eastern on Saturday afternoon, falling 1-0 in the opener and 2-1 in game two.

The Eagles found the board first in game two off a single and a double in the third inning. Widener got its only hit of the game from DiMario in the top of the sixth. Despite a strong performance from Jaworski, the Pride was unable to get its offense going and Eastern hung on to its one run advantage through the remainder of the contest.
In game two, the Blue and Gold scored first in the opening frame.
Ally McDowell reached first on an error and was sacrificed to second.
Lindsey Cooper then cracked a double to right center field to plate McDowell and give Widener the early 1-0 lead. Sieminski held Eastern scoreless through six, but the Eagles were able put together two straight hits with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. An ensuing Eastern double down the left field line brought the two runners home to give it the walk-off win and the sweep.
