YORK, Pa. – The Widener University softball team was upended in a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader by the York (Pa.) Spartans, falling 8-0 in the opener and 4-1 in the second game.

- Lindsey Cooper went 3-of-5 at the plate, including a double and an RBI in the nightcap.
- Ally McDowell picked up two hits on the day and stole a base in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In game one, the Spartans took an early 2-0 lead off a triple in the first. Cooper doubled in the fourth inning and advanced to third on a bunt to put Widener in scoring position, but a Pride foul out on the next at-bat left it scoreless. York pulled away with four more runs in the following frame to go up 8-0 and end the contest after five innings

In game two, the Blue and Gold found the board for the first time of the day in the top of the third.
Becca Tiley opened the inning with a single to center field and reached second on a passed ball.
Liv Robinson came into pinch run and advanced to third on an ensuing McDowell hit. She finally reached home on a fielder's choice to tie up the score 1-1. The Spartans reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the third off consecutive doubles to take a three run advantage. Despite four more scoreless innings pitched by
Kait Jaworski, Widener was unable to get its offense going again and fell 4-1.
